The model of wooden scaffolding used to install the columns for St.Isaac’s Cathedral

Created in the 1850-s by Montferrand, St.Isaac's Cathedral is the 3rd highest one-dome church in the world.

It took 40 years to construct it. St.Isaac's was the main cathedral of St.Petersburg in the second half of the 19th century. Its golden dome can be seen from all over the city, even from new districts.

Richness of its paintings and mosaics, malachite and jasper columns, numerous sculptures and bas-reliefs attract visitors to the museum. One can wander there for a long time studying the history of its construction and unique technologies used there, admiring beauty of its altar and cupola paintings.

After the tour around the Cathedral you can climb to the cupola and watch the breathtaking view of the whole city centre.
