Who have had the easiest and the toughest careers in cricket history.

This is my first post on reddit. It was something I had in my computer.

The Graph shows the percentage of games where ROT6 ave <=30 (both teams) that is difficult pitches for each batter. The Green line represent the mean depreciation of ave as the percentage of difficult pitches increase.

Some observations

  1. With the filter of 2500 runs, poor Markram has had the toughest career in the history of cricket. just 40% of bro's games have come on what can be called flat pitches.
  2. In comparison Gambhir has had the easiest career with nearly 90% of this games coming on flat pitches. Majority of his career comes bt 2007-12, the flattest period.
  3. Peter May has a strong claim in top 3 most undepreciated batters in the history of Cricket.
  4. Tendulkar was close to Kallis and walcott before regressive a bit at the end of his career.(Edit: Guys i meant on the graph. Currently Sachin is slightly behind the elite line that goes from Sobers, Kallis Lara, Maindad to May but he was on to it at the start of 2011. Career end decline regressed him a lot.)
  5. Inzi gets a lot of flak for playing on flat pitches but G smith or Allan border played on almost the same pitches, people forget that majority of his career came in the 90s which was a hard time to bat.
  6. Kohli has had a considerable more difficult career than Root, Williamson or Smith.

What are some other things of interest for you.

PS: Bradman is ignored, because he skewed the graph too much.
